A bit frilly and over-the-top, and yet not excessively so |
Wacky modern fireplaces |
Ahhh... I feel relaxed already |
Cute little breakfast nook... complete with flowers! |
Flowers and sunshine accompany our banana chocolate chip muffins |
And similar treatment for our veggie omelettes with seashell-shaped, cheese-filled croissants (no photo of Sunday's yummy Yemeni pancakes, alas) |
Though it was overcast in the morning, we were exceedingly pleased it was not pouring rain |

The water was high enough at Dan Bosch Park that this makeshift dock was rather inaccessible |
Artwork found on a rock at the start of the Skookumchuk Rapids walk |
We didn't time our walk to Skookumchuk Rapids very well (or at all), so the tidal outflow was simply fast rather than outrageous... |
Instead of marvelling at the current, we marvelled at the logging instead |
Sunday turned out to be a beautiful, sunny day |
Just one look made me want to go play on the water, but it was just too cold to get hyped up about kayking... perhaps we should have rented a motorboat? |

Meow! |
Killing time before the ferry, we headed down Witherby Point on a gravel track of varying quality... We drove, then parked above a soft stretch and walked in to what appeared to be the end of the road. Apparently we mistook the public access turn off at Rusty Scupper Road for a private drive? Anyhow, the area is largely turned over to forestry use and this was a typical view of the booming grounds. |
Inexplicable cosntruction near a bend in the road |
According to the Official Community Plan, "Prior to encouraging public use of [...] Witherby Beach Road [...], the Regional District, in cooperation with adjacent landowners, should conduct an assessment to determine if these right-of-ways are suitable for public access and that safety concerns can be adequately addressed." |
A classic example of do-it-yourself road work, these Tim Horton's cups mark a soft shoulder section of the road |
The traditional wait for the ferry home... the view could be worse, though! |
After arriving home from our trip, we spent some time with Kris and Toby before they left town... |
... here, Toby fashions an interesting headpiece from thin film and yarn wrapper |
